Summary: | Three-dimensional animal behavioral monitoring has recently been used in many experimental animals such as
mouse, rat and zebra fish. In principle, it is possible to obtain and analyze a three-dimensional movement pattern by analyzing
and combining the data in the two axes. Three dimensional movement obtained by this way might be analyzed more accurately
than one dimensional movement. Determination of three dimensional movement (in XYZ axes) provides a more accurate and
natural like analysis of movements particularly in fishes. Digital video monitoring systems used in animal behavior and activity
studies are more advantageous than manual tracking. Digital video surveillance eliminates user based errors and provides to
obtain fast and more accurate results. This research shows how to solve hardware and software problems in behavioral monitoring
activity of zebra fish and how to obtain the three-dimensional (3D) data from zebra fish movements. |
