Summary: | Background: Although osteonecrosis or Avascular Necrosis is known to be associated with steroid use commonly in the femoral head (hip), involvement of the talus (ankle) is rare. Case report: We present a rare case of a young male with bilateral osteonecrosis of the talus following corticosteroid use after renal transplant. Conclusion: Awareness of this entity, a high-index suspicion, and MRI is needed for making an early diagnosis. Treatment of this condition is often challenging and depends on the stage of the disease. |
