Summary:An efficient and solvent-free synthesis of some novel pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-4(5H)-one derivatives has been developed under microwave irradiation by the reaction of ortho amino ester of 1-substituted pyrazole with different aromatic nitriles in the presence of potassium tert-butoxide. All the newly synthesized compounds were characterized by various spectroscopic techniques and analytical methods. Furthermore, all the newly synthesized compounds have been screened in-vitro for their antimicrobial activities against S. aureus, B. subtilis, E. coli, P. aeruginosa, A. niger and C. albicans. All the compounds showed weak to good activity against all tested microorganisms.
