| Summary: | Mass media discourse was analyzed to reveal the ways of Chinese proverbs integration into American linguoculture. The processes of foreign paroemias borrowing are tightly connected with the assimilation of different worldview fragments and accompanied by creative reprocessing of language material. As a result, initial saying undergoes certain changes both in form and meaning while entering another speech community. As a rule, the borrowing happens only if the image of foreign proverb is built on easily understood metaphor and its conveyed meaning corresponds with receiving culture perception of reality. |
