Summary: | Dede Qorqut Epics are very important in terms of Turkish Language and Literature, Turkish History and Turkish Culture. In these epics, both the wars Oghuzs made with their enemies during the period when they settled in Anatolia, civil strives and heroisms of them as having an important place in Turkish world are narrated. In this study, it was aimed to determine the cultural geographical factors in Dede Qorqut epics. The research was carried out with case study method in order to analyze the case within its own borders, and document analysis was benefited as the data collection tool. In the research, text samples upon how determined cultural geographical factors were mentioned in these epics were provided. The aspects such as religion, family and society
structure, daily life, economic properties, love of nature, entertaining, eating habits,
hunting and wars creating the cultural geographical factors were included with their
different properties in the epics. All these also revealed the relationship between the
geographical properties of the areas where Oghuzs lived and the culture they created.
Their sports and entertaining habits such as archery, horse riding, hunting and wrestling
were the cultural factors supporting the fact that they had a contentious society.
