| Summary: | Antônio Gonçalves da Silva, was one of the most authentic and important representatives of the Northeast popular culture. His pseudonym was Patativa do Assaré. Man of plain language excelled as a poet, improviser and composer. Earned the nickname of Patativa, an allusion to the lovely bird singing, when he was twenty years of age. At this time, began to travel through some Northeastern cities to perform as a guitar player.
