Description
Summary:Focusing on Machiavelli’s Asino, this essay aims to highlight possible intertexual references to the Florentine and the classical traditions. This paper will also analyse Machiavelli’s work within its sixteenth-century literary context : as I intend to prove, sixteenth-century texts bring to light the complex, double and grotesque nature of human action by means of such features as animality and naturalism.
