Description
Summary:Diversity is consistently increasing in society and the workplace with increasing globalization and internationalization. This comes with new challenges and opportunities for organizations adapting to the new environment as internal heterogeneity in teams and organizations can lead to communication issues and conflict. Externally, organizations need to change their approach towards diverse customer and markets simultaneously. This is based on the inherent behaviour of people being drawn towards similar attributes present in themselves. Behaviour like this often leads to formation of in-groups and out-groups which frequently lead to issues and consequently loss of performance. Nonetheless, it is clear that diverse companies perform better because individuals from various different backgrounds offer new perspectives leading to an increase in creativity and innovation.
