Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Thesis (S.B. and M.Eng.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, 1999. Includes bibliographical references (p. 73-74). In this thesis, I designed and constructed an intelligent microwave capable of automatically determining the time required to properly cook commercially-packaged foods. This research involved creating a database infrastructure capable of supporting a huge amount of data distributed throughout the internet. It was accomplished through a number of techniques involving careful application of the existing internet technologies: the Domain Naming System and the World Wide Web. A prototype using Radio Frequency ID tags was built and tested with several test foods. by Joseph Timothy Foley.
