Description
Summary:With the organization of the Lincoln Air Defense Laboratory, the participation of the Institute in the national defense effort increased several-fold, and a need arose for mature leadership for these new responsibilities. Professor Albert G. Hill was named Director of the Lincoln Laboratory, and as a consequence has resigned his post as Director of the Research Laboratory of Electronics. Professor J. B. Wiesner was appointed Director of the Research Laboratory of Electronics. To serve with him as a technical advisory group he has chosen a committee that consists of Professor Gordon S. Brown, Professor Nathaniel H. Frank, Professor George G. Harvey, Professor Albert G. Hill, and Professor Julius A. Stratton. Another change in our staff has taken place as a result of the appointment of Professor George G. Harvey as Executive Officer of the Department of Physics. Professor Harvey has retired from his position as Assistant Director of the Laboratory but he will continue to be associated with our research program. This report, the twenty-sixth in a series of quarterly progress reports issued by the Research Laboratory of Electronics, contains a review of the research activities of the Laboratory during the three-month period ending June 1, 1952. Since this is a preliminary report, no results should be considered final.
