Ingolfsson, Armann Queues, Nonstationary: Timing of the Peak Mean and Variance; Revised October 1994 This paper examines the time lag between the peak in the arrival rate and the peaks in the mean and variance for the number of customers in an M(t)/M(t)/1l system. We establish a necessary condition for the time at which the peak in the mean is achieved. In cases in which system utilization exceeds one during some period, we show that the peak in the mean occurs after the end of this period. 2004-05-28T19:31:42Z 2004-05-28T19:31:42Z 1994-07 Working Paper http://hdl.handle.net/1721.1/5285 en_US Operations Research Center Working Paper;OR 301-94 846185 bytes application/pdf application/pdf Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Operations Research Center
