Dept. of Architecture. Architecture. Thesis (M.S.V.S.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Architecture, 1992. Includes bibliographical references (leaves 57-58). Digital Diorama may be briefly presented as: a historical exploration of the vision devices, performances, and installations of the nineteenth century, and their influences on the project. These histories of the magic lantern, the panorama, and the diorama are investigated in relation to forming a context for creating an interactive environment with digital video on a personal computer. Critical theories of the late twentieth century are used to illustrate the change of vision from classical to modern and present a framework for understanding the potentials of digital technology. by Daniel Spikol.
