description The main objective of this project is to design and develop a system with expert system features to help diagnostic personnel to have a quick and accurate diagnosis for disposition of the malfunction hard disk drives (HDD). In particular, the project aims to improve the tear down ratio and reduce manpower requirement. A prototype of the system was developed for ST9235 model Servo Track Writer station, and has been running on the production line for the past three months. Some modification and fine-tuning was carried out during the trial run. The management is happy with the ultimate result and decided to replicate more of this system and installed them on different family product lines. The subsequent enhancement after implementing at STW station will be Pre-Test, Functional Test and Audit Test.
