Summary: | This project aims to find the important parameters that affect the ventilation and
temperature of a data center and to optimize the temperature and airflow within the data
center.
This report presents how the positions and sizes of air outlets affect the temperature and
airflow inside the data center. The study is investigated with numerical simulation, the
computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method is used. The study is conducted in a
systematic way using steady-state transit simulation in ANSYS/Fluent software.
First, a three-dimensioned geometric model is constructed in 18 different configuration
profiles. Then, the meshing is generated with a reasonable mesh size. Subsequently, the
energy equation and boundary conditions are set. In the end, the result is obtained by
comparing the temperature contour and velocity vector.
