description With the increasing ageing population in Singapore, there would also be an increase in the number of health issues that arise. This would lead to an increase in demand for healthcare to treat such health issues. One possible treatment method would be physiotherapy. However, with the ageing population, the number of staff – i.e. nurses and doctors, that are able to treat physiotherapy is not increasing at a fast-enough pace to support the increasing number of elderlies in Singapore society. Hence, a possible solution to this problem would be to create a system which allows elderlies to be able to carry out any form of physiotherapy exercise by themselves without needing any expert help. Furthermore, as the world becomes increasingly technologically developed, there has also been an increase in elderly adopting personal mobile devices. Hence, the solution would be able to make use of this increased ownership of mobile devices to create a solution. The Elderly Physical Well-being System is a system created to elevate the issue caused by the increasing demand of physiotherapy treatment. It will allow the elderly users to carry out their physiotherapy exercises by themselves without requiring the assistance of experts on hand to help them. The system consists of two components. The first component would be an Arduino Low Energy Bluetooth device with an attached sensor which would record and send the relevant sensor data to be used for any necessary processing. The second component would be an Android device, which serves as the interface to be used by the user, in order to allow them to view and obtain their performance results regarding their physiotherapy exercise.
