description Having a determined goal of making my collectibles for my final year project, specifically, collectibles in the pop culture – I looked into why people spend thousands of dollars on plastic figurines. My final year project breaks down the pattern of these successful figurines such as KAWS, LEGO, and Be@rbricks into three segments – contemporary art, modularity, and collaboration. These segments each explain a concept to formulate a collectible that has potentially contributed to its increased value overtime. Investigating into the psyche of different artists on how they have created their characters using their narrative and framework has helped me discover and create a sense of connection between me and possibly the people who will be interested in my collection. In the process of discovering myself and the meanings behind my rapid cute and morbid sketches, my project supervisor – Associate Professor Peer M. Sathikh, and I have narrowed down to bring the unique selling point of my nightmares into collectible everyday objects. NOROI TOY is a series of collectibles based on everyday seemingly innocent everyday objects turning into something wicked in seconds. This project aims to question the innocence of everyday objects and bring an unexpected twist to the common. Through the exploration of my aesthetics and rapid sketches, I have brought these palm-sized items of curiosities to live where you would want to take a second look, observe, and see what kind of surprises it will give you.
