Description
Summary:The three R’s – reduce, reuse and recycle – is a waste hierarchy. It is also known as the order of priority of action to be taken to reduce the amount of waste generated. These principles have always been encouraged since a young age to be incorporated into our daily lives. By implementing these principles, waste can be reduced so that less amount of it goes to the landfill, thereby reducing carbon footprint. Pokémon Go, a mobile application, was released in July 2016 and had brought Augmented Reality (AR) to worldwide mass adoption. This engaging game had brought first AR experience to many people, drawing widespread attention and investment, and showing a large potential in future success. Despite being in Year 2020, Pokémon Go continues to enjoy an active user base and is one of the top few applications globally. While many are aware of the importance of 3R’s, there is still a continuous of usual daily routines, with most ignoring the issue of climate change. Due to such negligence, most are not well-informed on the proper actions for recycling. Through this project, good recycling habits are to be encouraged in an engaging and interesting method, inspired by Pokémon Go, to the users.
