description Nowadays, many elderly people need patient care monitoring. Using non-contact vital sign monitoring can provide better information for night caregivers or nurses to improve the efficiency of caring for a large number of patients. In human body sensing applications, traditionally PIR (Pyro-electric Infrared Detector, pyroelectric infrared sensor), camera, and ultrasonic sensors are used, but these detection technologies can only sense primary and secondary movements. The human movement cannot be accurately detected. The new small high-precision radar sensor can already detect extremely small human movements, whether it is main, slight movements, or even breathing movements, and has become a new choice for human detection applications. This project is to talk about the radar with machine intelligence for vital sign monitoring. This report provides some literature review which include some basic radar principles and data processing procedures. Also, this report describes how the hardware and software will be implemented to analyse the radar signal. By analysing those results, we can judge the measurement accuracy under different situations. Therefore, we can clearly know the advantages and limitations of this radar sensor.
