description Objective: To provide an understanding on how Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) treatment plays a role in managing female sub-fertility, particularly on ovulatory dysfunction condition. Methods: A retrospective cohort study on sub-fertile females, receiving TCM treatment in Singapore Thong Chai Medical Institution (STCMI) and had a live birth, was conducted using data dated from 2010 to 2020. Data which includes demographics, TCM and Western diagnoses, treatment duration, and herbal medication usage records were organized and analyzed in this study. Analysis of CHM herbs used among females with ovulatory dysfunction was done using Gu Jin Yi An Yun Ping Tai V2.2.3. Results: 53.7% of the cohort had ovulatory disorders. Kidney and Liver-related TCM syndrome was most common among ovulatory dysfunction females. Further CHM analysis revealed that herbs with neutral, sweet-tasting characteristics and associates with Liver meridian are most commonly used in the treatment for ovulatory dysfunction condition. Conclusions: Treatment of ovulatory dysfunction revolves around tonifying Kidney and Spleen and soothing Liver-qi. Base TCM formula regulating the Kidney, Spleen, and Liver is important in TCM treatment of sub-fertility with ovulatory dysfunction. This study serves to provide useful insights for TCM practitioners on herbs usage in treating ovulatory dysfunction.
