description | The objective of this study is to evaluate the relevance ranking effectiveness of six search engines. Relevance has been identified as measuring the closeness of a document's content or the extent to which the document matches a query while relevance searching in search engines is a process where results are ranked according to certain criteria as specified by each search engine. Relevance ranking criteria used by many search engines such as term weighting, indexing of web pages and source authority varied between the search engines. Various studies conducted placed different emphasis on the various aspects of search engines such as measuring links validation and significance testing while others measured relevancy using different methods such as the types and numbers of queries used. |
