Summary: | Culture-loaded words have always been a difficulty in translation, most of which are based on their own cultural background, and rarely see from other perspectives. Therefore, this paper takes 阿拉伯地理典籍中的中国(China in the Eyes of Arabic Geographic Works)as an example to look at China from an Arabic perspective, so as to explore translation strategies of culture-loaded words in the context of Arabic culture. In this paper, culture-loaded words in selected materials are divided into three categories: idioms, classical Chinese, and others. By giving a thorough analysis of each culture-loaded word, this paper introduces several ways, under the guidance of cultural vacancy theory, to translate culture-loaded words under such background, including literal translation, free translation, domestication, and foreignization. Hope these methods could help to translate Chinese culture-loaded words in such a background.
