description The construction sector which plays a pivotal role in society is falling behind in its quest for digitalization. This has severely impacted the sector’s growth and revenue stream, evidently from its lack of innovation and agility to respond quickly to covid-19. This project alongside the guidance of HSL Construction Pte Ltd aims to create an e-marketplace platform, named Sandbox for the entire construction industry. Sandbox aims to connect all the construction companies to a common platform. It has three main features, namely the social media aspect where construction companies communicate and share their ideas. Secondly, it is a platform where they can outsource their problems or find potential partnerships. Thirdly, it is also a platform for companies to list out their products or/and services, thus, enabling them to form an additional stream of revenue. After the development phase of Sandbox, its platform was then being tested by students, consultants, and people from the construction industry to access if the objectives of the website were being met. Tools such as Google’s Lighthouse were also used to determine the web and mobile performance of Sandbox. Lastly, a survey was also conducted on participants to future ascertain the design, usability, and performance of the website. Generally, the findings of the results were positive where the user states that the website did fulfill its objectives and it’s rather easy to navigate the webpage. Constructive feedback was also provided by some users to aid us to better improve its user interface and user experience. All in all, the creation of Sandbox hopes to introduce digitalization in the construction industry so that moving forward to post-covid days, the construction industry can be seen taking up more technological advancement to better prepare itself for future demands. The details of the project will be further elaborated on in the subsequent sections of this report.
