description The diode rectifier fed high voltage gain boost converter is an AC-DC power electronics converter that has low power factor and high current total harmonics distortion due to its non-linear characteristics. The objective of this project is to implement an active power factor correction controller to increase the power factor to near unity, reduce the current total harmonics distortion and have a fast-transient response for the converter. Two different controllers, namely the adaptive and non-adaptive current mode controllers, are implemented. Both controllers achieved a near unity power factor and have the same transient response performance. However, the adaptive current mode controller achieved a lower current total harmonics distortion as compared to the non-adaptive current mode controller. Therefore, the implementation of the adaptive current mode controller provides a better overall performance for the converter.
