Description
Summary:In this modern world, power systems can be found almost everywhere, all power systems consist of three primary aspect: Equipment for converting energy in other forms into electrical energy (generators), equipment for transmitting electrical energy for distribution (cables) and consumers that uses this electrical energy for households, offices, and industrials. Thus, having a stable and reliable power system is essential. In this project, the objective is to create a switching simulation of a power system distribution network which is similar to the actual network and connect it to an imitation of a switchgear to conduct switching. A prototype model of a distribution network would be created for this project. The platforms that are used in this project are MATLAB and LabVIEW to compare the accuracy of results between both programs. The simulation would be able to detect the changes in load as the circuit breaker status changes to imitate the process of switching. Once the simulator was built in both programs, the data are used to compare for accuracy and to further study the power system. The hardware of the prototype will be used for the program that have the most accuracy. The basic power system structure along with the study of power flow will be covered in the next few chapters of this report including the progress of the simulation model and prototype of the hardware. This report also discusses the future works that can be done to improve on the prototype done in this project.
