description The classical solutions for disclination in an infinitely long elastic solid have been solved by the integration of disclination densities by deWit. In this paper, a wedge disclination in an elastic functional cylinder with a core is investigated, focusing on the stress field. The approach is to solve the equilibrium equations directly and expressed in terms of radial displacement. The material gradient of the cylinder is presumed to follow a power law that is characterized by a gradient index. The results show that: (1) the gradient index of the material has an influence over the elastic parameters which results in variations in the stress field, the radial and transverse stresses and displacement changes with radial coordinate, transverse stress is at minimum at the disclination core. These results can help to better control several relaxation phenomena such as crack nucleation and disclination splitting.
