description “We are children of the earth, not separate from the soil, the forest, the rivers and the sky.” - Thich Nhat Hanh Inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings, ‘Grains’ is a multi-sensory garden that invites participants to be present, sharing a moment of mindfulness and reconnection. The garden hopes to elucidate on the inter-relationship between people, the Earth and all her children. The installation explores the incorporation of interactive elements in spatial design, enhancing the intended function of a space. The garden adapts the concept of a Karesansui, Dry Landscape Garden, into an indoor terrarium that houses a cymatics sand device, thermal lighting, surround-sound wall panels, aromatic lava rocks, and live plants.
