Summary: | This study is concerned with fabric wastage produced during the production of rental wedding gowns in Singapore. A massive amount of fabric is unused and trashed during the cutting and making of the gown, contributing to environmental degradation. With a sustainable approach at the forefront of the project development, this project blends sustainability and minimal-waste pattern cutting production with a classic, timeless wedding design. The study produces a green wedding capsule collection named ASTRID; ASTRID bridal collection is produced on a bias cut, allowing the gown to hug the body curves naturally; this collection is brought to life with deadstock fluid fabrics and delicate embellishments. This collection aims to create a more environmentally friendly production process and reimagine how sustainable rental bridal gowns are in an overproduced and under-considered bridal landscape.
