Description
Summary:Cases of pipeline damage have been detrimental, for causing serious problems, not only financially but also environmentally. One of the serious environmental damage is oil spillage and sometimes an explosion may even occur. Therefore, there is an interest in avoiding such accidents to occur. One of the methods in preventing anchor impact on pipelines is providing enough pipeline burial depth. In this report, experiment on anchor drop and its penetration depth is studied. Parameters of different drop heights, sand bed, shape of falling object and the methods of dropping are included in the experiment. Results of various heights affecting the impact velocities, impact velocities affecting the penetration depth, penetration in different sand types and lastly relationship of different shapes of falling object with penetration depth will be shown.
