Description
Summary:With the advancement of technology, mobile gadgets such as smart phones with multi-touch technologies have become an important tool in our daily lives. However, when using these devices, people spend less time with one other and interacting face-to-face as the devices are designed for individual-based interactions. The mobile applications that come with the devices mostly allows users to interact online across the internet, where they engage in activities that need minimal to no social interaction with other users. To promote interaction amongst users, this project attempts to build on the concept of face-to-face interactions by developing a collaborative music-interaction percussion system for persons with and without musical backgrounds and without the use of internet connections. This project uses Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to synchronize touch interactions between various connected devices. The virtual percussion instruments on screen would then allow users to collaborate in creating percussion rhythms simply by tapping on the instruments. The project will be able to evaluate the touch-based percussion system user interactions through a detailed user study based of user’s experience.
