description As a mandatory requirement while undertaking the Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Computer Science) in the School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE), all students must complete a Final Year Project (FYP) as assigned to them as part of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) SCSE’s curriculum. Each FYP is supervised by a faculty and will be graded by said faculty as well as an assigned examiner. The Student Selection System (SSS) assigns a student with an FYP project through automation. The SSS was developed to greatly reduce the complexity, processing time and errors that may be made through manual allocation by the FYP coordinator. The SSS, created by a contracted software engineer, utilises complex algorithms which alleviates the issue of manual allocation, and reduce human-prone errors made by automating the entire process. The SSS works hand-in-hand with its partnering system, the FYP Examiner Allocation System (FEAS). The FEAS, developed entirely by past batches of FYP students, automates the process of allocating an examiner, date, time, and location to the FYP that is due for examination in the semester. The FEAS greatly reduces the time, manual effort and human-prone errors of the manual allocations of the FYP coordinator. With the implementation of the FEAS and the SSS, the responsibility of the maintenance of the systems has been passed down from batches of students undertaking this FYP to the next. The aim of this FYP is to expand on the works done by previous batches of students, to bring about a continuation of the maintenance of the systems while aiding the end-users with specific tasks, as well as to implement and propose improvements to the systems.
