Summary: | Singapore enjoys the rare distinction of being ranked among the healthiest countries in the world with one of the most efficient healthcare systems. However, what is needed in the present context is a transformation of the country's healthcare system in view of the looming 'silver tsunami' (a rapidly ageing population), which may render the country's predominantly hospital-centric healthcare model unsustainable in the mid to long run. The present study casts light on the key issues surrounding the design and implementation of the National Electronic Health Records (NEHR) in Singapore and suggests how these issues may be addressed. |
