description Dementia is a neurodegenerative brain disease characterised by irreversible functional and cognitive decline. Dementia prevalence is anticipated to increase and is not only a medical issue but also a significant socioeconomic burden on the individual, family, and community. To ensure quality dementia care, care facilities use the person-centred care approach. Person-centred care is predicated on getting to know the individual through a personal connection and centres on meeting those needs. However, carers for patients with dementia are vulnerable to caregiving strain because of the demanding nature of caring for a person with dementia. As a Frontend Developer and Project Manager, my role is to improve the PersonCentred Care (PEAR) application, a centralised care centre management system that helps caregivers by providing visibility into the needs of patients with dementia. This involves managing the expectations of stakeholders and facilitating effective communication between the frontend team, the backend team and our supervising associate professor. This project has been passed on from many groups, resulting in many different supporting project management software. To address these challenges, my objective is to partially restructure the workflow to bridge the knowledge gap between current and future batches of developers. Additionally, there is a need to further develop the existing patient management application to better serve the needs of patients and caregivers. This involves a deep understanding of the challenges faced by caregivers and the needs of patients to develop an effective and user-friendly application that can improve patient outcomes and reduce caregiving strain. Overall, this project is critical for advancing the field of dementia care and improving the lives of patients and their caregivers. This project’s key tasks include migrating from a native Android application to a contemporary component based React Native Expo framework and the introduction of a project management tool. The outcomes of the project will give the current team and new members a cutting edge component based React Native Expo framework and a centralised project management tool to better align with the needs of stakeholders and users. Hence allowing for the project to be completed as quickly as possible.
