Description
Summary:The number of cycling accidents has become increasingly alarming in recent years as cycling has become more popular. With limited cycling infrastructure in Singapore, cyclists might find it challenging to discover suitable routes and cycle on unfamiliar paths, unaware of potential dangers. This project aims to address safety concerns associated with cycling by providing cyclists with more useful information about the possible routes in Singapore as well as the potential safety hazards along their routes. Existing implementations allows user to plan and create routes, however, the ability to record and annotate specific points of interest during the route creation session is lacking. To achieve this, a web application named Bike Route Tracker was developed. It is designed to help users easily create cycling routes and record points of interest within the route. User can also rate the difficulty level, region, type of bike used and the option to share this information with others in the cycling community. Other features include discovering community-shared routes, viewing the route path on Google Maps and the images of the recorded places of interest. All these functionalities supported in the application are developed with a goal in mind, which is to provide cyclist with more information to make informed decisions about the routes that are suitable for their needs and ability levels.
