In some industries, hiring a person with false qualifications might have serious consequences. Thus, there is merit in developing a system that allows corporations to streamline the verification process with high confidence.
In the recent few years, there has been an advent interest in blockchain technology, with cryptocurrency as its most well-known application. Blockchain is an immutable database, which means that data cannot be changed or removed. It facilitates the process of recording and tracking transactions in a shared network. This makes data immutable and at the same time easily accessible to everyone for verification. These traits made the technology a highly viable solution for the problems mentioned.
In this project, the plausibility of using blockchain as the underlying technology to verify one’s certificate and identity authenticity is explored. More specifically, creating Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) versions of NTU students’ matriculation cards and degree certificates. NFTs are non-interchangeable tokens that can be used to represent ownership of unique items / documents on the blockchain. |
