description Particle acceleration has become an integral part of our society and its technologies, spanning from X-ray machinery in the medical industry to security screening. This project provides insight to the history of particle accelerator, understanding of how different types of particle accelerators were invented, and the motivation behind key experiments. Furthermore, the author will perform an analysis of existing and upcoming particle acceleration technology. Including a study of the optimization of accelerators both past and present. Finally, the prospect of miniaturizing particle accelerators will be explored.
