Summary:In smart nations like Singapore, traffic congestion is becoming a common problem which is mainly due to the rapid increase in the number of vehicles on the roads around the world, and therefore to monitor and manage the road traffic, intelligent transportation plays an important role for any modern traffic system. In this project, traffic data will be collected using videos at various traffic locations and will be analysed to obtain traffic parameters such as vehicle count, speed of vehicles and vehicle types as these are the important parameters used in any intelligent transportation system. However, there are lots of issues, which need to be solved before it can be used in real-world traffic situation. Therefore, the main aim of this project is to investigate, design and implement intelligent algorithms for road traffic applications. The developed algorithms will be tested using real data and performance will be measured using traffic data under various weather and road conditions.
