Description
Summary:Nearby is a mobile application which allows Singapore residents to connect and forge interpersonal bonds with their neighbours by partaking in authentic interactions with neighbours that they can truly identify with. Unlike kampungs in the past where neighbourly interactions and good inter-neighbour relationships are commonplace, neighbourliness amongst Singaporean residents at present has declined as fewer residents choose to interact with their neighbours. This has been further amplified due to the social impacts of COVID-19, as a result of physical and social distancing. Therefore, as Singapore recovers from the pandemic, I aspire to reinvigorate the kampung spirit through this project by providing an opportunity for neighbours to get to know each other by interacting more meaningfully while promoting positivity and a sense of community within neighbourhoods, which will in turn strengthen the bonds between neighbours and inculcate a culture of neighbourliness.
