description The current implementation of web platform (edveNTUre) for students and instructors to access lacks interactivity and communication between the two parties. In this report, we investigate the analysis and implementation process of a new web platform to enhance interaction between the instructors and students and integrate with edveNTUre. The development of the web platform is divided into four phases, following the practices in software engineering which carries out gathering and analyzing of requirements before a solution model is developed. The solution model is then implemented using Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition technology (J2EE), specifically the Java Server Pages, Java Servlets and JavaBeans. JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) are used to enhance the look and feel and user interaction of the web platform. In the process of designing and developing the web platform, various adjustments were made to solve problems such as gaps between designs and the implemented outcome and cross browser compatibility issues. In particular, the author adapted a different development methodology to enable active feedback from the designer without slowing the platform development process. In doing the Final Year Project, the author has learnt about the J2EE platform and the Java Server Pages Model 2 Architecture. The web platform developed will aid communications between instructors and students, especially with regards to students’ work when deployed.
