Summary: | The optimization and validation of broadside mounted design for W-band (75-110GHz) waveguide-to-microstrip probe transition are presented. The substrate of microstrip was Aluminum (εr=9.9) and WR-10 waveguide is used in this transition. The dimensions of the transition have been optimized for full bandwidth of the waveguide with a return loss which is greater than 20dB by using an electromagnetic CAD procedure. The transition of 75GHz to 110GHz needs more time to fabricate and assemble. As a result, a scaled-up version (12.5 times of the original one) of back-to-back transition, which is considered to have the theoretically same performance, was fabricated and validated. The measured return loss of the module is greater than 9dB between 6 and 8.8 GHz. A new configuration of power divider with in-phase output was established at last as further research.
