description In this project, design of a fixture for the forming of Micro Fluid Device is required. As the features on the micro fluid device is too fine to be molded by conventional molding process and mold, it is proposed to etch the feature on a silicon chip and let the chip itself become the mold for the forming of micro fluid device. In order for the silicon chip to stay in position throughout the molding, two of the four sides have to be ground to ten degree inclination. This inclination will enable the clamp to secure the chip effectively. The fixture’s function is to locate and orient the silicon chip in a way that the ten degree inclination can be grinded successfully. In the design process, linear motion, clamping and feeding methods will be discussed and evaluated, in which the best combination will be selected to be integrated into the final design of the fixture.
