Description
Summary:This report covers the design of a single-mode quantum cascade laser at a central wavelength of 4.7µm. The structure of the QCL is made up of a long single Fabry-Perot cavity structure. The cavity consists of two electrically isolated sections, front and back, that have slots etched in regular spacing at the top of the cavity structure. This QCL is designed to reach a continuously tunable range of ~62 cm-1 using its designed tuning mechanism. On top of that, this report covers the theoretical analyses calculations of the materials to numerically simulate the effects of the slot to eventually achieve a feasible widely tunable Slot QCL design at 4.7µm.
