description Singapore is heavily reliant on its neighbouring countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia for the nation’s nutritional needs. However, recent global events like Covid-19, climate changes which resulted in droughts and floods, and trade disruptions greatly affected the global food supply chain. Singapore will remain vulnerable if such events were to occur again. However, Singapore is limited in land area which restricts its ability to produce local goods to sustain the nation. To aid in strengthening food security, residents can individually grow their own local produce to self-sustain themselves to a certain extent. In this report, a semi-automated indoor farming device will be developed with the use of electronics and sensors to semi-automate farming in HDB homes.
