description This project aims to advance electric vehicle (EV) technology through the creation of a high-performance electric motor characterized by a high gear ratio and a short end-winding. Emerging vernier motor designs have garnered significant attention in EV applications for their exceptional power and torque densities, robust structural attributes, and maintenance-free operational capabilities. However, conventional vernier motor configurations often employ stators featuring a large slot count and a low pole count, primarily to achieve elevated gear ratios and torque densities. This practice, unfortunately, results in extended end-windings, adversely affecting overall torque density and efficiency. To address this challenge, this project serves as a platform to inspire and engage students in the development of an innovative vernier motor design that not only retains high gear ratios but also minimizes end-winding length through novel winding techniques. Exceptional designs arising from this project will transition into experimental prototypes for the purpose of concept verification. The outcomes of this research endeavor hold promise for pushing the boundaries of EV technology, potentially leading to more efficient and environmentally sustainable electric vehicles.
