| description | Indecisiveness, the inability to make decisions, is a common occurrence in people’s lives. Every person faces indecision to different extents in their everyday life. However, cases when ones’ difficulty in making decisions starts interfering with one’s daily life can be considered destructive and needs to be addressed.
There is no one cause for indecisiveness, but common reasons that usually cause the difficulty of making decisions are avoidance of the responsibility of making decisions, worrying about not choosing the best option possible due to perfectionistic tendencies, fear of making the wrong decisions due to a lack of self-trust, or decision-fatigue from the availability of too many options.
I have struggled with chronic indecisiveness for a long time, as I find myself unable to form my own decisions without consulting someone for their opinion or advice. My problem with indecisiveness manifested when it came to deciding on a project for my Final Year Project (FYP) and I really struggled to commit to a singular project for months.
For me, deciding to commit to the making of this project was the first step to addressing my indecisiveness. By giving insights and perspectives from an indecisive person myself through this project, I hope to create a safe and contemplative space for fellow indecisive people. |
