Description
Summary:The Beast in the Woods is a 2D animated short film that explores topics of guilt and innocence in a coming-of-age story. This film tells the story of our main character in a show-not-tell way, using a non-linear storyline and a lack of dialogue. The storyline aims to take viewers on an emotional journey as they uncover the truth together with the main character. Ultimately, the film’s ending may leave viewers feeling confused or unresolved, letting the film’s themes of child-like helplessness and futility linger within its audience. The film’s lineless, cell shaded animation and painterly style background aim to simulate a children’s fairytale storybook. This art direction corresponded closely with the themes and visual storytelling of the film. This Final Year Project (FYP) report will research the process of making The Beast in the Woods, while exploring my role in the making of this film as a producer and a clean-up artist.
