Investigation of PFC on tapped-source AC/DC converter
The AC/ DC converter produces a dc output from an ac input. Average power is transferred from an ac source to a dc load. The ac-dc converter is specifically classified as a rectifier. For example, an AC/ DC converter enables integrated circuits to operate from a 60Hz ac line voltage by converting th...

description | The AC/ DC converter produces a dc output from an ac input. Average power is transferred from an ac source to a dc load. The ac-dc converter is specifically classified as a rectifier. For example, an AC/ DC converter enables integrated circuits to operate from a 60Hz ac line voltage by converting the ac signal to a dc signal of the appropriate voltage.
AC to DC converters can be found in most industries for supplying power to an electric load. The importance of having a high input power factor and efficiency for low voltage applications has become more and more essential.
Controlling the winding machine torque is proportionally to the roll variable radius. It is assumed that the material is fed to the winder at constant speed. The winder angular speed is forced to decrease proportionally to the roll radius. Motors operated with low power factor are expensive and inefficient. For the low output industrial applications, power factor decrease if the supply voltage is still high.
Using a tapped transformer and thyristors can constuct new AC/ DC converter which has changeable supply source. Besides that it can improve power factor and efficiency in low output industrial applications. |
