Description
Summary:With the ease and convenience that the internet, it brings with it significant risks as well. One very significant risk is the loss, corruption or theft of important or sensitive data as it is transferred over the internet. There are many techniques present to counter this threat. Biometric-based security is one such measure. Biometric technology can be used to add an additional layer of security to an existing system or built one solely dependent on a biometric technology. This project is divided into two phases. In the first phase, various biometric-based security technologies are analyzed and a bimodal fingerprint verification system, using two distinct fingerprint images, is decided to be developed for application. In the second phase, an online shopping website is developed as the web application to demonstrate how the bimodal biometric security system has been integrated with a web application to enhance e-security for financial transactions using credit cards online.
