description It is believed that NOMA is a potential technique for 5G and beyond wireless communication systems due to its ability to meet the high demands for data rates and connectivity. It is really beneficial in situations where there are many of users and different QoS needs. When compared to conventional OMA methods, NOMA can accommodate a higher user base. More importantly, through efficient power allocation and SIC, NOMA can provide better quality of service (QoS) to users, especially those with weaker channel conditions. In this dissertation, we present a systematic description of this technology and analyze the performance of the NOMA system under uplink and downlink conditions. Moreover, we combine NOMA with cooperative communication, MIMO, and IRS, respectively, and compare the user rate, outage probability, and spectrum efficiency of NOMA and OMA under different circumstances.
