description In an earlier article (Hansson 1982) 1 described the relationship between Akha. as spoken in Thailand, and Han! according to a Hani-Chinese Wordlist published in 1959. In the autumn of 1982 I had the chance to work for some days with speakers of Aloha, Han!. Khatii and Flj6 at the Yunnan Institute of Nationalities in Kunming. Owing to the short time I had at my disposal. I couldn't work in the way I would have liked to. Not all of the material is on tape and there was no time to check my notes properly. So It is with some hesitation that I present my material, but as so little data is available (especially on Khatil and F1j5). I thought it might be of interest anyway. The results and conclusions should be regarded as preliminary.
