Summary: | There are many uses of Fabry-Perot inspired devices such as in the field of telecommunication, Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) systems, optical networks, spectroscopy and optical sensing. Work involving the improvement of the device capability has been ongoing as to increase the usage of the device.
This work involves the design and fabrication of a tunable Fabry-Perot cavity. The device is meant for use in coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) network. One of the key parameter that we will look at in this design is the response of the vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL).
Using modeling done on would be done on matlab and intellisuite, we will compare the theoretical result to modeling results and at the same time use it as a reference to compare with experimental results.
Factors affecting the performance would be discussed and analyzed and possible improvement would be looked into to improve the performance. |
